This optimization / debloating guide aims to completely remove every "useless" things out of Windows (In the case of Windows 11 it's a lot of things) and get more out of your computer. Of course without breaking important elements, damaging your computer, improves privacy (see this) or getting you in some security trouble (it even improves it : learn about attack surface).

But first take into account that you must reinstall Windows. This guide is only for those who want a fresh restart and doing things right. If you just want to optimize you current install without reinstalling, go check this.

First, BACK UP YOUR DATA : (Skip if fresh install)

This part is SO IMPORTANT, more then just not losing data it's also about speed. You don't even know how much time you are saving just by thinking about what you need and prepare in advance (life advice).

First get everything you want to backup from your current install:

(Remember you should check everywhere. Go to the folder Users under the C drive (Most of your data is usually located on the C drive C:Users) and then select the user account that you are using. Your data can be in the folders : Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, and Videos folders. But that's not everything !!)

Other places to look for :

  • Projects
  • Settings (like configs), mods
  • Folders inside or outside of "Users"
  • List of apps you really use (BTW go check this)
  • Account details, inside apps or websites (think about it, do you know all your passwords or are you getting yourself locked out of it when trying to re-log into it later?)

I don't have anymore ideas but you got what I mean by backup right? … RIGHT?

If you have multiple partitions/drives:

If you have multiple partitions on 1 disk or at least 2 disks the process is really simple :

Put everything you saved into something else then on your system partition/drive to not delete it during the Windows installation.

If you have C:\ drive & partition only

If you have a small amount of data to back up, save it on an online drives or on the USB drive after making it bootable.

If you have a large amount of data that you can't save on an external drive or online drive:

Create another partition and save your data onto that other newly created partition.

Now we want to install Windows.

  • First lets choose & create our installation method
    • Bootable USB
    • Without USB
  • What type of Windows system you want to install
    • Official & Unmodified (I don't recommend but it's easier)*
    • Modified Official image (Recommended)
